// hold your breadth
a[4] = 10;  // no error. perfectly alright. legal.
alert(a[4]);  // 10
alert(a.length);  // 5

var x = a[3];   // no error
alert(x);    // undefined

One more reason to read JavaScript deeply. 😉

Additional tip: Arrays can contain a maximum of 4294967295 items
